Dr. Horrible & Other Horrible Stories
by Zack Whedon, various artists (Dark Horse, 2010)

Did you see Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog? If so, you'll want to read this.

This brief collection of stories, all written by Horrible co-creator Zack Whedon and illustrated by a handful of other guys, is a lively, cheerful, fun glance back at the halcyon days of our beloved characters. How did Billy become a master of evil? Why is Captain Hammer his arch-nemesis, and how can Hammer help you be a hero? Why does Moist tag along with Horrible on his many misadventures? And why is Penny still single?

You'll get a lot of answers right here, in bite-sized bits of nutty prequel action. You'll even get to meet Bad Horse and the members of the Evil League of Evil, as well as erstwhile hero Johnny Snow. Heck, even the one-page introduction by the Whedons Joss and Jed and honorary Whedom Maurissa Tancharoen is a hoot.

Does this book take the place of an honest-to-goodness sequel to Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog? Heck no! Will it tide me over until a sequel is made? Well, sure, for a little while. But it's good to see these kooky and beloved characters get a new life in comics, just as the characters of Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and the short-lived Firefly have done. Let's have some more, please. I'll be happy read it. (I might even giggle maniacally at the sheer joy of having it.)
