steampunk fiction

"A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free." (Nikos Kazantzakis)

Steampunk is historic science fiction, typically set in the Victorian age, most often in an England heavily influenced by the works of Jules Verne, H.G. Wells and even Mary Shelley. Think a foggy London populated by the likes of Jack the Ripper and Sherlock Holmes, but where technology has advanced at a rapid rate -- powered mostly by clockworks and, as its name indicates, steam.
