Keep It Up

CHORUS
Keep it up! Keep it up!
If you want it to get better, keep it up!
If you'd soon be feelin' great,
Keep it up and keep it straight!
Any hour's not too late to keep it up!

I was dancin' in my local waterin' hole,
When my ankle got a sprain and got all swole.
Well, the doctor wrapped it tight
And told me morning, noon and night,
Keep it straight and ellyvated like a pole.
"If you ever want to dance a jig again,
Or go chasin' after women, then, my friend,
Heed my words 'fore it's too late --
Keep it up and keep it straight
From the bottom all the way up to the end."

CHORUS

Now the next week I was playin' my bodhran,
When I sprained my bloody elbow and my hand.
My doctor says I better try
To keep that hand and elbow high
If I ever wanta try to play again.
So I thought about what exercise to do
That would keep me arm and elbow plumb and true.
Then I finally saw the light --
Liftin' pints is my delight,
So come join right in and lift your own pint, too!

CHORUS

My next sprain was in a spot quite dear to me,
A precious part of my lower anatomy --
A thing that I'm too shy to name,
And to expose would bring me shame,
And if I did, then soon arrested I would be.
I asked my wife to help me keep this part erect,
She said that she'd be more than happy to, by heck!
She tied a rope around me rear
And hauled it up into the air ...
'Twas me arse, of course -- now what did you expect?

CHORUS

Even in the freezin' cold,
Keep it brave and keep it bold.
Any age is not too old
To keep it up!

CHORUS
