Sally O. Lee,
The Cake Thief
(BookSurge, 2008)

The Cake Thief, by Massachusetts-based writer Sally O. Lee, is a beautiful and fresh kids' story about, you guessed it, a thief whose specialty is stealing cakes.

But the underlying theme though of this story is relationships and loneliness. The hero of the story, Clarence, steals cakes just because he feels lonely. When he realizes that people can enjoy his company, as well as his cakes, he changes his path.

The art in this book, also by Lee, is exceptionally good. Plastic figures in full color enhance the story. Lee's amazing oil paintings and her touching story are suitable for kids of all ages, and those who are young at heart are no exception.
