Erin McCarthy,
Vegas Vampires #2: Bit the Jackpot
(Berkley, 2006)

This is the second book in Erin McCarthy's Vegas Vampires series.

Seamus is a 370-year-old vampire. He has been celibate for 200 years. His main focus is politics. He is the best friend and campaign manager for the current vampire president, Ethan (of High Stakes fame). They are currently campaigning for re-election.

Cara is a stripper by night and is going to school to become a veterinarian by day. But she also has some wonderful contradictions. For example, when she dances she only strips behind a screen. (There is more, but I don't want to spoil anything.)

Seamus is immediately drawn to the woman he first sees dancing behind her screen. But after leaving the club, a vampire fight starts in the alley and Cara is caught in the middle. Both of their lives are going to be changed.

This is a great followup to the first novel. As usual, McCarthy gives you a fast-paced story with wonderful characters. Seamus and Cara are great together. There are many moments that will have you laughing hard -- as well as some very hot sex scenes, and a little action thrown in. I can't wait for the next one!
