Solitary,
directed by Luke Armstrong
(Inspired, 2020)

A man wakes up to discover that he's on a spaceship and has been involuntarily selected to help form Earth's first colony in outer space. His companion is a psychopath and is planning on wrecking everything.

Solitary takes place in the single setting of a spaceship cabin with the two prisoners -- Johnny Sachon as Isaac and Lottie Tolhurst as Alana -- primarily on-stage. They interact periodically with phone calls and missives from Mission Control.

While billed as a thriller, the pacing and performance don't quite fulfill the promise. I've seen many similar films -- that are, essentially, a conversation -- that do far better at holding my interest.

Unfortunately, for both my spouse and I, this film was like watching paint dry. I walked out nearly two-thirds of the way through. My husband watched the rest and gave it two thumbs down.

The script might be an interesting read, but nothing in the acting, setting, etc., convinced me to remain.
