Squeezebox Stompers,
Squeezebox Stompers
(independent, 2006)

The name says it all on this album. This trio brings the accordion out of the background and puts it center stage along with the guitar.

Over the 13 tracks offered on this self-titled CD, the band ranges through styles, writers and performances that will leave your head spinning in the most delicious way.

The self-composed pieces from Ralph Tufo tend to work best, especially "Those People." All accordion players will be lining up to learn and play "Magnolia Two Step" and "Campfire Waltz."

An unusual track but a well-performed song is Solomon Burke's "Cry to Me." The album closes with the wonderfully titled "Bow Legged Woman."

This is a feel-good album that will raise the spirits.
