GRRLzine #8:
In Wonderland

by Bonnie Burton

It's been two years since Bonnie last put out GRRLzine. Two years of eating Coffee Crisps, watching Powerpuff Girls and working. Luckily, she was also compiling the massive volume on Alice in Wonderland -- the issue is huge and thick and full of content ranging from visual art collages to articles on everything from dream interpretations (based on Wonderland images) and "magic" mushrooms.

Between the artwork, lists of Wonderland resources and bizarre poetry about playing hedgehog croquet, reading GRRLzine this issue is like taking a quick time-out from the rigors of everyday life. It's well-produced, well-printed and has none of that distracting stuff that sometimes plagues lesser-known zines -- instead, the detail in some of the more scary Alice images just adds to that feeling of taking a step further away from reality.

Back issues of GRRLzine are available, including ones about Mexican wrestling and drag queens, and from the sheer amount of content in this one, I'd be tempted to order most of the available issues, just to keep around for when the real world is just too much to take.
