Memory and Dream #4
by LK Ludwig

What could I possibly say about Memory and Dream that hasn't already said? It's brilliant -- shots of color, in-depth articles about photography, journals and other art mediums. It's well-produced and ziney, with clippings and drawings and more information than you could ever hope to use in the two months the issue is current.

In issue #4, there is a great article about the Holga plastic camera, showing shots of its effects. There are derivation deck cards that you can photocopy. There's poetry, leaf print instructions, photoshop tricks, codex binding instructions, book reviews and lots of art, as always, by artists like Lloydene Cook, Paula Hagar, Lisa Shumicky and Ros Stendahl. It's just a great issue.

The best part for me was the article on nature journaling. There were color illustrations and examples of these kinds of journals, as well as prompts and a list of what to do in your nature journal and how to get started. If I hadn't already been a subscriber, I would have been after reading that article.

This is a fabulous zine. If you're an artist or a journal-keeper, it's a must-have. Send LK Ludwig $6 per half-size issue or $24 for a year's worth of six issues at P.O. Box 103, Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
