various artists,
Global Lounge
(Neurodisc, 2002)

My second Neurodisc listening experience could only be labeled as "soulful relaxation with a pulse." A unique blend of international (Brazilian samba, Caribbean, nostalgic) flavors lace this laidback, yet exotic compilation of female vocal selections. Twelve tracks present cool musical breezes, each varied, but each maintaining a theme of tranquility.

The overall tone of the disc allows one to imagine him or herself lying in a warm bath, with a cool breeze blowing over and the sun splashing color across the sky. Not a state of mind to miss, if one can help it!

Global Lounge features an array of artists and soul styles, including "Magic Tribe" by Taste Experience, "Urubu" by BPM, "Cry" by Afterlife, "In the Beginning" by 2 Souls, "Awakening" by Sasha Lazard, "Take Me Away" by Vertigo Deluxe, "Eye of the Beholder" by Bella Sonus, "Eva and the Nightbus" by Transit, "Autumn Leaves" by BPM, "Rainy Days and Mondays" by FAC15, "Soul Good" by Taste Experience, "Change the World" by Oktane and "Soul of Desire" by Phobos.

FAC15's "Rainy Days and Mondays" provided a pleasant and unlikely surprise. I wouldn't mind sampling the sounds of any one of these artists in the future. As with my last experience with a Neurodisc production, the more I listened to the disc, the more I came to adore it.
